Greece has a mixed capitalist economy. Tourism plays a very important part, providing a large portion of GDP and foreign exchange earnings. The economy has vastly improved in the past few years, because the government has tightened its policy. Inflation has fallen from 20% in 1990 to 3.1% in 2000. The only challenges left are the reduction of unemployment and further restructuring the economy.
